Avengers: Doomsday Latveria map: is it a Battleworld clue?
An official Marvel promo shows the whole country around Doom's castle, and I think the layout points to how Avengers: Secret Wars could build Battleworld
Marvel Studios has released an official promo for Avengers: Doomsday that includes a full map of Latveria, and I think it gives a big clue about where and what Battleworld will be in Avengers: Secret Wars. The map shows a country that stretches well beyond Doom's castle, and it leads me to two takeaways. First, New York and Latveria could merge into one battlefield for the final fight. Second, Latveria itself may become a smaller Battleworld in Secret Wars.
The official Avengers: Doomsday map of Latveria
Marvel had already shown the location of the final battle outside Doom's castle in a Jeep commercial. This map covers far more than the castle. The castle is marked with a star and a shrouded figure of Doom, and that's the capital. Around it sit different regions of the country, including Mount Victoria, the Doomwood Forest, Doomville, Doomton and Doomsberg.
Could New York and Doom's castle in Latveria become one battlefield in Avengers: Doomsday?
We know this map of Latveria is in the 828. The final battle, however, is reportedly set to take place simultaneously on the 616 in New York and at Doom's castle as the rest of the heroes march in the 828. As for Earth-10005, I expect it to be destroyed before the film ends. That may be where the heroes make a final stand against Doom and the Sentinels before escaping to the 616 or the 828.
But what if New York and Doom's castle are one and the same? I know the physics wouldn't work, since the Earths' gravities would interact long before they were close enough to touch. Marvel ignores very obvious science to tell a story or for spectacle and asks us to buy in, though, and for the most part, we do. So as the 828 and the 616 collide, if New York somehow lines up with Latveria, they wouldn't be two separate places. They could become one large battlefield. Given how big this map of Latveria is, that may explain how the final battle has different locations while it's all, relatively speaking, in the same spot.
Is Doom already building Battleworld before Avengers: Doomsday begins?
When the castle first appeared at a show in Shanghai, before we knew it was Doom's castle, the shattered glass looked to me like pieces of the multiverse making up that tower. I argued then that Doom was well on his way to creating Battleworld already, and that Doomsday is the final part of that rather than the whole buildup. By the time we meet Doom in this movie, it's probably too late for any of our heroes to stop it anyway.
The big conjecture has been that the Void would serve as Battleworld as things are pruned. Perhaps as Doom collects characters, as we saw him collect Hulk, he's putting things into the Void to build his Battleworld there for when the multiverse collapses. That logic tracks: when the TVA pruned things, they went to the Void at the end of time, where Alioth finished them off.
But what if Doom is laying the groundwork for Latveria itself to become Battleworld? The things he's collecting and saving, he could be taking there as part of his magic.
Does leaked Secret Wars concept art show Latveria as Battleworld?
The concept art that leaked over a year ago shows a traditional Bavarian styling. The Russos have said it isn't their concept art, but it was reportedly made by an official Marvel artist for Marvel Studios and posted by accident before the Russos were ever hired.
Battleworld is typically made up of many different sections that Doom saves and compiles into one place, but this could easily be Doomsberg. In the comics, the Hulk section of Battleworld was called Greenland, so it's possible that's what we're seeing in the art. That might be the way Marvel Studios chooses to go: Doom recreates Latveria and its vast landscape as different sections and regions, the only thing that remains as Battleworld when all the other timelines are destroyed.
It makes sense, since Latveria is already Doom's home and he's already the emperor and dictator there. Why wouldn't he take his home and add everything he wants to rule over into it, instead of putting it somewhere else? Recreating Battleworld in that location, as the only place that survives after the 616 is wiped out, could go a long way toward explaining everything.
Why a smaller Battleworld fits Avengers: Secret Wars
I think Latveria as an entire country makes much more sense for the layout of Secret Wars the movie than a Battleworld as big as the one in the Secret Wars comics, where the story could go in a thousand directions with a bunch of different characters. The film doesn't have the time to cover that ground.
For the number of heroes we know will survive and show up in Battleworld, it would make a lot better sense for a small country to be the layout. My theory is that a Battleworld smaller than the comics' version is right for a film like this.

More on Latveria →The Jeep ad gives the first MCU exterior view of Latveria, showing Doom's modern Doomstadt tower amid Eastern European mountains, likely on Earth-828. Separately, Channing Tatum said his Gambit originates from the Fox X-Men universe (Earth-10005), despite Deadpool & Wolverine suggesting he was born in the void.

My favorite option is for James McAvoy to step in and finish Patrick Stewart's Fox era Professor X arc in Secret Wars, possibly as a younger Xavier inside Doom's Battleworld. I think that would be a beautiful, meta tribute to Stewart.
