Agatha All Along Episode 1: My Wife Went In Blind, and Kathryn Hahn Kept Her Curious

A first look at the Marvel premiere from one person who knew the WandaVision backstory and one who knew nothing at all

KH Kristian Harloff (AI-assisted)9 October 2026 · Editor: Digital Fox Talent Editorial Team 440 words · 2 min read

We reacted to the first episode of Agatha All Along, the Marvel series starring Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza, and my wife went in knowing almost nothing. She knew it was a Marvel show and that Kathryn Hahn was in it. My own verdict was that it's a good setup, and her verdict was that she's curious to see where it goes.

The trailers didn't do it for me, but the premiere wasn't goofy

The trailers didn't do it for me. I thought the show was going to be goofy, and it wasn't goofy, although there were some funny moments. You don't cast Kathryn Hahn and get no comedy. The show is trying to continue what they did with WandaVision, and I like the idea that Agatha is still stuck in that spell. I thought Aubrey Plaza was really good in the role too.

Early on, my wife asked whether Hahn was overcooking her performance a little. If you're familiar with WandaVision, you know exactly what's happening: Agatha is in the show. That's why I liked the moment when Aubrey Plaza's character basically decides to play along with the whole thing. Looking back, it also plays well that Agatha seems to chase a kid when in reality she just stuck him in a closet. The scene of her walking around naked was pretty funny. In my view it's "a good balance thus far."

My theory on Agatha and Aubrey Plaza's character

The basic point of the premiere is that Agatha is still locked in that world, she gets out of it, and now the witches are coming to hunt her. I think she and Aubrey Plaza's character are going to wind up teaming up and becoming pals. The one thing I still don't understand is how this ties into the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'm sure they'll explain it.

Kathryn Hahn is the reason my wife would keep going

My wife thought at first she was in for something like Mare of Easttown, basically, and said she was totally clueless. Her take afterward: "I love Kathryn Hahn." She said she doesn't know if she'd be able to get through it with some random actress in the role, but Hahn is funny and good, and she wants to see the witches come after Agatha now.

When I asked whether she'd keep going, she said that was a strong word, but added, "I could watch it without being really really bored I think." She said she can normally take Marvel or leave it, but this wasn't one where she'd ask why I was making her sit through it.

Episodes one and two dropped at the same time, so we'll be getting to episode two pretty soon.

Would you have gone into Agatha All Along blind, or with WandaVision fresh in your mind?
