Deadpool and Wolverine Easter Eggs: Happy Hogan's Office Hides a Tom Holland Spider-Man Nod

From the March 14, 2018 date and the Wolverine variant montage to the Deadpool Corps and an ending that leaves Wade and Logan on Earth-10005

Everything Always (AI-assisted)30 September 2026 · Editor: Digital Fox Talent Editorial Team 4,350 words · 20 min read

Deadpool and Wolverine is packed with Easter eggs, and I think probably the craziest and biggest one in Happy Hogan's entire office is a child's Iron Man costume mask, the same one Peter Parker wears in Iron Man 2 when Iron Man saves him. Below I go through every Easter egg I could find, scene by scene, and explain the ending. That means major spoilers from here on, so if you have not seen the film yet, back out now.

I am working from notes taken after a single viewing, so I have tried to uncover every corner of the film, but I am sure some things slipped past me.

The Marvel Studios logo turns red and yellow for Deadpool

The film opens with the normal Marvel Studios logo roll, except now Deadpool has been added in a couple of spots alongside a lot of the newer characters from Phase 4 and Phase 5, like Lady Thor. At the last moment, before it cuts to Deadpool himself delivering the intro, the logo turns red and yellow for Deadpool and Wolverine.

His intro monologue is meant to call everything out and put it all on the table: Disney buying Fox, the rights dispute, him getting his own franchise. He calls Marvel stupid, which is kind of hilarious. Then he puts the big question right out there. How are they going to do a Deadpool and Wolverine movie without dishonoring Logan's legacy? He straight up says, "We're not."

Deadpool digs up Logan and fights the TVA to Bye Bye Bye

The movie opens with Deadpool in what he refers to as downtown North Dakota, but which is really the Canadian wilderness, digging up Wolverine's dead body from the end of Logan. He is convinced that this is not how a regenerative healing factor works, and then finds Logan, as he puts it, very passed away, in what is maybe one of the funniest jokes in the entire film.

He is then confronted by a ton of TVA agents, and he backtracks to explain why they are there. For the opening credits, he uses Logan's adamantium coated skeleton as a weapon, set to almost the entire NSYNC song Bye Bye Bye.

There are two small Easter eggs I want to point out here. First, when the TVA agent addresses Deadpool, he calls him by his full name, Wade Winston Wilson. Second, when Deadpool gets hold of Wolverine's claws, he naturally tries to use them. This is an Easter egg for Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan number three. It happened very differently in the comics, but I could not help noticing how similar some of the imagery was.

March 14, 2018 puts Deadpool in the MCU just before Infinity War

To explain why the TVA is after him and why he is looking for Wolverine, Deadpool goes back to the day he says it all changed. We see him basically where we last saw him, with a quick replay of the Deadpool 2 post credit scene. However, the day he is referring to is March 14, 2018, and he is now in Happy Hogan's office at the Avengers compound in upstate New York.

That date is interesting on a lot of levels. Because I have the latest official timeline book, I consulted it so I would not get this wrong. The events of Avengers: Infinity War take place in spring, specifically May, and Thanos snaps in May of 2018. So this is just months before absolute chaos in the MCU. When Tony Stark is referred to as alive during this conversation, it is because he is. This is right before Infinity War happens.

Happy Hogan's office is packed with MCU Easter eggs

There are so many MCU Easter eggs in this office that I was frantically taking notes. Over Happy Hogan's left shoulder is a copy of Forbes with Pepper Potts on the front. To his right is the set of Captain America trading cards from the first Avengers film. There is also a silver helmet.

On the shelves in another part of the office he has the suitcase from Iron Man 2, and behind them on the window sill is the prototype Captain America shield from Iron Man 2, the one Tony asked Coulson to help prop up the piping with before he creates a new element. We also see the Proof That Tony Stark Has A Heart statue that Pepper made for him sitting on the desk. It is a small detail, but a couple of things give away that this might actually be Tony Stark's office, with Happy sitting at Tony's desk, rather than Happy's own office.

I think the craziest and biggest Easter egg in that office is the Iron Man mask sitting to the left of the door, behind Deadpool. It is shown several times as he gets ready to leave after Happy has basically broken his spirit and told him to learn his place on the totem pole, lowering his hand as he says it. That mask is a kid's costume mask, the same one Peter Parker wears in Iron Man 2 when Iron Man saves him. It is an incredible Tom Holland Spider-Man Easter egg.

As an honorable mention, there is what looks like a Mobius strip statue on the shelving as well. Keep in mind that would be an Easter egg for Tony Stark using the Mobius strip years later in Avengers: Endgame to invent time travel, and this is way before that.

Back on Earth-10005, the TVA explains the anchor being

Speaking of time travel, there is no explanation for how this time travel device became a multiverse timeline hopping device, so I will just assume that whatever Negasonic Teenage Warhead did to it changed its function. After being rejected by the Avengers, Deadpool goes from the 616 back to his own timeline, the Fox timeline, which we now know has the designation Earth-10005.

We learn that because the Avengers rejected him, he has hung up the Deadpool costume and is selling cars at Drive Max, the film's parody of CarMax. We had seen this part played out in the trailers many times. The TVA abducts him from his own surprise party and brings him to Paradox, who we quickly learn is off the reservation, not really following TVA rules but doing his own thing while overseeing the Fox timeline.

According to Paradox, that timeline could take 2,000 years to die, based on the theory of an anchor character. When a universe loses its anchor, which in the case of the Fox X-Men timeline was Logan, it slowly starts to die. This is a brand new concept for the MCU, and it is somewhat similar to what the comics did with Molecule Man in the 2015 Secret Wars storyline from Jonathan Hickman's run. The difference seems to be that instead of Molecule Man being the anchor in every universe, every part of the multiverse can have its own anchor.

Deadpool declares himself Marvel Jesus, then learns the real plan

In his own ego, Deadpool eagerly accepts this, declares that he is Marvel Jesus and turns to the audience for a quick aside telling Fox off. He then gets suited up by the TVA's tailor, and the film makes sure to drop a key piece of dialogue: his katanas are adamantium now. That line is there because they know Marvel fans would absolutely lose their minds if some other metal held up against Wolverine's adamantium.

Only then does Deadpool figure out that him going to the sacred timeline means his entire timeline is going to be destroyed by a time ripper. As Paradox exclaims, speeding up that process is his whole plan. Deadpool knocks the TemPad out of his hand and goes looking for a replacement Wolverine, which brings us right back to the start of the film and the TVA agents chasing him through the woods. After he makes quick work of them, he says, "I got to find a new Wolverine," and then, "Cue the montage."

The Wolverine variant montage, from Patch to Henry Cavill

The first Wolverine is a Hugh Jackman variant in a bar, but when he gets off his stool to confront Deadpool, we see he is comic accurate short. Deadpool calls this out and it is basically a gag, because he is super short. Next is a Jackman Wolverine who is Patch, and Deadpool even calls him by that name. Then there is a variant working on his motorcycle and smoking a cigar, though we do not get the full reveal of that one until later in the montage. After that comes a super old Logan, probably Old Man Logan, sitting on a porch with a shotgun.

Then we get some absolutely insane comic book imagery: Wolverine on what is basically an X shaped cross, from Uncanny X-Men number 251, released in 1989. After that comes what I think might be one of the coolest scenes in the movie, and what I hope will be a nod to a costume they use in the future. Hugh Jackman is in the classic yellow and brown and about to fight the Hulk. The original for this image is Incredible Hulk 340, where Wolverine in the yellow and brown faced the Hulk, and the scene has been redone many times on covers and in cartoons. It is some of the best imagery ever and I am so pleased they put it in the film. I just wish they had shown us even five or ten seconds of that fight.

Hilariously, Deadpool tries to give the Hulk the same speech Loki gave him: "I am Marvel Jesus, you dull creature." Before he can go any further, Hulk smashes him against a tree. Deadpool then rewinds to the variant with the motorcycle and cigar, who turns out to be what Deadpool calls the cavalry: Henry Cavill as Wolverine. That is the ultimate fan service after so much fan art put him in this role over the previous two or three years. Deadpool tries a joke about Marvel treating him better than DC, and Cavill simply punches him through a wall and through a TVA TemPad door.

That lands him with the Wolverine who becomes our Wolverine for the rest of the film, the one in the bar wearing his yellow and blue costume, or as Deadpool calls it, pajamas, under his civilian clothes. They look ready to throw down, but Wolverine grabs a bottle off the bar and drinks himself into a stupor. When Deadpool goes to bring him back to the TVA, he realizes Logan is wearing the costume underneath.

The TVA calls him the worst Logan and dumps them in the void

Logan is passed out when they arrive at the TVA, so he has no idea where he is. They learn that this is basically the worst Logan, the one who does not qualify as a hero. Earlier, when the Logan who was the anchor for the Fox X-Men timeline was put on screen, everybody at the TVA stopped with a tear in their eye, because he was heavily revered. As Paradox says, he would have accepted any of the other Logans, just not this one. When the pair go to attack him, he simply takes a TVA time stick and dumps them both in the void.

Chris Evans returns as Johnny Storm, not Captain America

I have already spent a ton of time on the void Easter eggs, so I will only point out the most important ones. The very first trailer featured the Secret Wars comic with Doctor Doom on the cover, an obvious nod to where this is all going. The key moment comes during Deadpool and Wolverine's first fight, when they are interrupted by one of the biggest cameos in the film: a figure draped mostly in blue with a little red.

Deadpool at first thinks it is Captain America, but this is a subversion of our expectations. It is not Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. It is Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, returning from the old Fantastic Four movies. Deadpool even thinks he is about to say Avengers Assemble, because he has not realized who it is yet. When Johnny flames on and shoots fire, Pyro simply counteracts that by absorbing all the fire, and the heroes are eventually captured.

That only happens after Wolverine gets his rematch with Sabretooth, Tyler Mane's version of the character. It is built up to be a huge rematch, but Wolverine ends it one, two, three by chopping off his head. And of course we get a parody joke from Deadpool referring to him as Queen Furiosa, because of how Mad Max the whole caravan is.

The caravan and the Ant-Man base are built from MCU leftovers

We had good shots of the caravan for months, but there are so many Easter eggs to previous MCU properties in it. The first is the truck from Moon Knight, from what a lot of people think was a scene set in Liberia. There are several motorbikes, and one is definitely from Captain America: The First Avenger. The other bikes could be Captain America's as well.

There is also Red Skull's hot rod, which seems to have been shifted to mesh with Tony's first hot rod from Iron Man 1. It is definitely the Red Skull car, but it has a little Iron Man on the front trunk. We also see the silver Fantasticar from the Fantastic Four. All of it has been repurposed, Mad Max style, from several MCU and comic properties.

When they get to the base, it is not just a piece of Ant-Man, it is all of Ant-Man. His entire skeleton as Giant-Man is lying on the hill, and that is the base.

Johnny Storm explains the void and name drops Alioth

On the way to meet Cassandra Nova, the film uses Johnny Storm as an exposition dump, in case you have not seen all the Marvel projects, to explain what the void is. He talks about his Reed Richards describing it as a metaphysical junkyard, which is interesting because Paradox also called it a trash heap. What is hilarious is that when Johnny name drops Alioth, Deadpool immediately knows that is Loki season 1, episode 5, which is pretty meta. This is also where Johnny tells them about the resistance fighters out in the borderlands of the void, fighting against annihilation and against Cassandra Nova.

Cassandra Nova is the equal and opposite of Professor X

When they reach her base, Cassandra Nova explains pretty well what kind of villain she is. She is the equal and opposite of Professor X, and Professor X could sense how evil she was in the womb and tried to strangle her. She has all of his power, and the way she uses her hand to reach inside people's brains to see what is going on is so creepy. I think they did a great job portraying this character, especially with her introduction.

The gag here is that Deadpool immediately tells Cassandra Nova how much trash Johnny Storm was talking about her on the way there. The way she kills Johnny is insane: she strips all the skin off his body. A fight breaks out and Deadpool and Wolverine escape.

Nicepool, Dogpool and a very bloody Honda Odyssey fight

This is where the road trip buddy cop feel really kicks in. The first thing they do is run into Dogpool and the variant we had thought was Champion Deadpool or Samurai Deadpool. Apparently he is called Nicepool, and he comes across as a total jerk. Deadpool only wants two things from him: Dogpool and his gold plated Desert Eagles. He gets his hands on both later in the film, but for now Nicepool offers them a Honda Odyssey to go find the resistance, a callback to Deadpool saying earlier in the film that Honda Odysseys are terrible.

Because Deadpool will not stop running his mouth, he pushes Wolverine, and Wolverine finally gives it back to him while they are driving and goes too deep. That tees up their second fight, which is way bloodier than the first and takes place mostly inside the Honda Odyssey. They wear each other out and knock each other out, and someone starts the car and drives off.

X-23, Elektra, Blade and Channing Tatum's Gambit lead the resistance

The driver turns out to be X-23, who takes them to the resistance base. Johnny Storm had been one of them. The others are Elektra, played by Jennifer Garner, returning from the original Daredevil movies with Ben Affleck, and Wesley Snipes as Blade, who has some interesting things to say that I will get to below.

Then there is none other than Channing Tatum, who was famously in line to play Gambit in his own solo film. That never came to fruition, and he was famously extremely upset about it. He finally gets to play Gambit in full costume. There is a running gag about how bad his accent is, and Deadpool asks if his dialect coach was one of the Minions. He also points out that Tatum really just wanted to play the character, with something along the lines of asking whether he just wanted people to call him Gambit. The fourth remaining member is X-23.

Juggernaut's helmet and Logan's reason for the yellow suit

The resistance realize Deadpool and Wolverine got into Cassandra Nova's base and escaped, which gives them the idea that they might mount an offensive. To stop Cassandra getting inside their minds they need Juggernaut's helmet, because the only other option, Magneto's helmet, is gone. They mention Magneto by name and say he is dead. They also name other Marvel heroes who went up against Cassandra Nova and died: the Punisher, Quicksilver and Daredevil.

Everybody is in except Wolverine, who is convinced they are all going to die and goes to drink alone by the campfire. That is the scene from the latest trailer where X-23 comes out to talk to him. He explains that Storm, Beast and Cyclops all wanted him to wear the yellow costume, but he could not, because it would have let them know he actually wanted to be there. So now he wears it as an homage to them. X-23 tells him he was always like this until he was not, and that he is a good person. I am guessing that is what gives him the kick to join the counter offensive. You do not see him in the van as they drive up to the Giant-Man base, but he rolls out of the trunk once they are inside.

Wesley Snipes says there will only ever be one Blade

Maybe the craziest line in the entire film comes as they break into the base. Blade fires one of the Punisher's bazookas, and Deadpool asks Elektra point blank, "Which Punisher? There's been like five of them." Wesley Snipes as Blade replies that there has only ever been one Blade and there is only ever going to be one Blade, and Deadpool looks straight out at the audience.

I could not believe they allowed that line in, because at the time Mahershala Ali had been waiting patiently to play Blade since 2019, and here was Wesley Snipes playing Blade in a film before Ali ever got his, saying there will never be another one. I did not know if this was some sort of inside Marvel joke we were not in on. Maybe they were canceling Blade. Maybe Wesley Snipes was the new Blade. I think it is just Wesley Snipes stirring the pot. Either way, they did allow it, it is in there, and it is crazy.

Pyro's double cross and Cassandra Nova's surprise help

Inside the base, a crazy action sequence breaks out between the villains returning from the old Fox X-Men universe and the resistance, whose goal is to get Juggernaut's helmet onto Cassandra Nova's head. The double cross comes from Pyro, who has been working with Paradox and is there on his instruction to take her out, because Paradox is trying to get the ripper done in time to purge the timeline. As Elektra says, the TVA sends people to the void who do not cooperate or go quietly, which is why Paradox is so worried about tying up loose ends.

In a crazy twist, after they get the helmet on her and Pyro shoots her, Wolverine, in a show of compassion and for Charles, demands that Deadpool take the helmet off. I was just as shocked as I think the rest of the crowd was when we realized Cassandra Nova was going to help them. She calls Doctor Strange an amateur magician and says she killed him and wore his skin for four days, then takes out his sling ring, which has a Time Stone on one end and a Reality Stone on the other. That probably explains how she can open a portal from inside the void.

She sends them back to Earth-10005, not the sacred 616 timeline. If you are wondering, the 616 is only visited at the very beginning, when Deadpool goes there in 2018 to meet Happy Hogan and try to join the Avengers. She then immediately follows them, because she realizes there has been a double cross. As she says, she has had an agreement with the TVA for quite a while, but Pyro indicates that Paradox is off the reservation, working on his own ambition rather than within the TVA's guidelines. So she follows them to confront Paradox.

The Deadpool Corps variants I spotted

That kicks off the third act and probably one of the craziest action sequences in a Marvel movie in a long time, with the Deadpool Corps pouring out of a portal against Deadpool and Wolverine. This is when we are finally treated to Wolverine putting on the cowl, and even though he does not have the shoulder pads, it is totally worth it. They go up against what seems like an infinite number of Deadpool variants, and these are the ones I picked out from my notes.

First is Cowboy Deadpool, voiced by Matthew McConaughey. Then there are Kidpool, Headpool, Babypool and Lady Deadpool, again all from the original Deadpool Corps comics. There is Golden Age Deadpool, a Wilson from another Earth who sniffed too much mustard gas to avoid the draft in World War I, was captured by the Germans and experimented on, which gave him his healing powers, and who, now with a permanent breathing apparatus, became a force for good.

There is also Zenpool, created after Red Skull manipulated Professor X into inverting the personalities of Marvel's heroes. We briefly see Deathmask, from a reality where Reed Richards cures Deadpool of a lethal brain tumor, which gives him superhuman intelligence, and Deadpool becomes that reality's Doctor Doom equivalent. Roninpool, from a reality set in the 17th century, is in the group, and so is Deadpool 2099, the daughter of Deadpool and a demon.

The scene ends in a really silly way. Peter shows up in a Deadpool costume, and we find out that every Deadpool has a Peter, the same way every Spider-Man has a guy in the chair or every Rick has a Morty. They all start cheering for Peter, which lets Deadpool and Wolverine slip away.

Deadpool and Wolverine close the loop and save Earth-10005

In the final stretch, Cassandra Nova has followed them to the TVA and gotten her hands on the time ripper. As soon as they get inside, Deadpool pulls another aside, says it is the home stretch, then turns back to Paradox and says, "Let's up the ante." Paradox explains that with the ripper, she is mixing matter and antimatter across the full multiverse to erase everything except the void. But if someone goes down to the core and closes the loop between the matter and antimatter, they can reverse it and save everything, at the cost of that one person.

Deadpool and Wolverine make their way to the core, and for a second it seems Wolverine will be the one to sacrifice himself. Then Deadpool pulls an Armageddon, if you remember that movie, throws Wolverine out the door and decides he will close the loop and be erased himself. Wolverine breaks back in and helps him at the last minute. The two of them holding on together, a symbol of their friendship, reverses the current, saves the sacred timeline and the whole multiverse, erases Cassandra Nova and leaves Wolverine in the 10005 universe. So in the timeline where Logan perished, Deadpool and Wolverine are now both there.

Hunter B-15, as she arrests Paradox, explains that whatever they did solved the problem and the timeline is no longer dying. I did not like the line that their job is probably not done, because it seemed so cheesy, though it insinuates they will be back for Avengers: Secret Wars. I also thought it was super interesting that you do not see them come into the sacred 616 timeline at the end. They are squarely back in the 10005 timeline, which has now been saved, and at some point they will have to cross back over.

I am sure there are a lot of Easter eggs I missed on one viewing, so which ones did you catch that I did not?
