Dragon Ball Super Moro vs Vegeta Fan Animation Shows What a Moro Arc Anime Could Look Like

A fan animation of Moro versus Vegeta has some wonky motion, but its detailed art, vibrant colors and sound effects stand out.

A fan animation of Dragon Ball Super chapter 62, pitting Moro against Vegeta with an English dub, is probably the closest anyone's come to capturing what I, at least, want the Super anime to look like. At the time, I assumed (and I think intelligently assumed) that the Moro arc and the Granolah arc would probably be adapted into the Dragon Ball Super anime at some point. Until then, some really talented artists and animators had been putting together what that may look like.

Before reacting to it in full, I'd only skimmed it, but the art stood out right away. To me it's the closest anyone's come to really capturing that Shintani detailed Dragon Ball Super style that we all want to come back. The dub uses voices meant to mimic Sean Schemmel, Chris Sabat and others, and the clip opens with a reminder to support the official release.

The Moro vs Vegeta animation is a little wonky, but the art is amazingly detailed

The voice meant to mimic Schemmel isn't him, and it's not great, but he's trying and he's not doing a terrible job. It doesn't sound like Sean, but it's hard to sound like Sean. The animation's obviously a little wonky, but look at the details and the shadows. It's beautiful. I love the crater and I love the way the artist uses colors.

The animation is going to be a little bit slippery, because doing frame by frame cel animation takes forever. That's a reason why the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie was switching to a computer based style at the time: it does take a very long time to make something like this.

The close-up is awesome, and the sound effects are on point. I wondered where they came from. Is there a database online with all the Dragon Ball sound effects, or do fan animators rip them from the episodes and edit them in? "I'm sure somebody out there has it. I've just never seen it before."

There isn't a lot of animation in places, but that's okay. I like the moment where Moro takes Vegeta's power, although if this were actually Dragon Ball Super, the music would probably be cut off and they would just zoom in on Vegeta's power in the palm of Moro's hand. I also like one piece of art showing Vegeta's look.

The colors may be better than a lot of Super episodes

The artist is fantastic. "This dude should be doing portraits and selling them at conventions." Maybe he does; I don't know this person. Either way, he's a real talented dude, and mad props to him. I love my Dragon Ball, I just don't have any artistic talent, but I respect all the artists who put in their work and make the series look great.

That is a fun fan animation. In some ways, "the colors on this look actually in some ways better than a lot of the Super episodes." When they actually animate this, I really hope they make it look as good as this, if not better. Obviously it's going to be more fluid animation with professionals doing it, so you would assume so, but the colors here are so vibrant and nice.

The Moro arc seems to be a very colorful arc based on the colored manga chapters. So when it gets animated, I feel like it'll be something special. I also hope they add some backstory and more padding to give us more explanation on things.
