Assassin's Creed Hexe Casting Leak Reportedly Makes the Hero's Father an Executioner During the Witch Trials

Reported casting descriptions point to a healer mother, a headsman father, a persecuted mentor and a fear system, with release talk centred on 2027

The next Assassin's Creed might put you in a family where your mother is a healer, your father executes people, and you are the one being accused of witchcraft. New reported details for Assassin's Creed Hexe paint a much more personal picture of this game, and one family connection could make the story seriously uncomfortable: what happens when the machinery hunting you is the same machinery your father works for?

I think Hexe has a chance to give this franchise something it badly needs: a reason to feel nervous again. We have spent plenty of time becoming the most dangerous person on an enormous map. Put me somewhere I have to be careful what I say, who I trust, and whether somebody saw me climbing out a window. Suddenly, being an assassin gets interesting again in a whole different way.

MP1st's casting report is unconfirmed, and the names are probably placeholders

This comes from MP1st, which published a report describing casting information it says stretches from 2023 through the last few months. These are reported character descriptions, and the names attached to them are probably placeholders, but that is okay. Ubisoft has not confirmed the roster, and the connections being made to other leaks are speculation. There are also some possible early story spoilers ahead, so consider this your spoiler warning.

I want to look at what this game might be building toward rather than treating a casting sheet like it is the finished script. Ubisoft has already described Hexe as a darker, narrative driven Assassin's Creed experience. Reports have suggested a more focused structure instead of another massive RPG. We do not have enough to say exactly how linear it will be, but that direction excites me. Give me a world that supports the story this time. I do not need the map to be so big that checking the other side requires me to update my emergency contacts.

The Hexe protagonist is reportedly a strong willed woman in her 20s devoted to her family

The reported backdrop is Germany during the witch trials. In these casting descriptions, the protagonist is called Petra, though earlier leaks used a different name, and again, names are going to change. What matters is how she is described: a strong willed woman in her 20s, devoted to her family, but unwilling to accept the restrictive life society expects her to live.

That gives the story somewhere to start beyond another secret organisation recruiting another talented person. She already has relationships, responsibilities and disagreements before the Brotherhood enters the picture. I want to know what she is risking to leave, and I want the people she loves to have reasons to want her to stay, even when staying becomes dangerous. I think a good Assassin's Creed protagonist should have a life worth interrupting.

Her father is reportedly the headsman, and that is the detail that grabbed me

The casting describes her father as a caring, religious family man with a grim occupation. MP1st connects that to other descriptions identifying the father as the headsman: an executioner, the one who takes a big axe or sword to people. That is the detail that immediately grabbed me, because imagine being accused of witchcraft when your own father works inside the system that punishes people.

Does he believe the accusations against other families? Has he spent years telling himself that carrying out the law makes his actions acceptable? And when that law comes for his daughter, how does he view it? Those are the questions I want answered. That setup could give Ubisoft a conflict where somebody can love you and still be part of what is hurting you. That is uncomfortable.

A midwife mother and a possible Auditore connection

Her mother is reportedly a compassionate midwife. Separately, there are rumours about the protagonist descending from the Auditore family, with a new article suggesting her mother could matter to that. Earlier reporting specifically mentioned Claudia Auditore. That is an intriguing possibility, but it is not confirmed.

If it happens, I want that history to explain something meaningful about this family, because this new character needs to stand on her own. If the family has passed down knowledge, hidden its past, or deliberately walked away from the Assassins, that can make the connection worthwhile. We need to discover why her mother knows certain things. We need to recognise a skill the protagonist does not even realise is unusual. Give the history consequences instead of pausing the story so we can point at the screen and remember all the legacy characters.

Mother Gertrude reportedly offers refuge from the Order of the Lamb

Another reported character could also help. Mother Gertrude is an older healer who was once trusted by her village. Then an illness spread and she could not cure it. People accused her of witchcraft, and she isolated herself to survive. According to the description, she previously taught the protagonist's mother about herbs, and she offers the daughter refuge while she escapes a group called the Order of the Lamb. MP1st suggests that group might be a Templar front, but we do not know.

Either way, Gertrude's background gives her a reason to understand the danger. She has already seen a community turn on somebody it used to rely on. I would much rather meet a mentor carrying that experience than somebody who exists exclusively to explain which button activates my hidden blade.

A rumoured fear system could cut both ways

The older gameplay rumours make this more interesting. In July, reporting on claims from a leaker described a fear system drawing comparisons to Assassin's Creed Syndicate's Jack the Ripper expansion. The alleged effects include frightened NPCs, misfiring weapons, or fleeing an area. The same report claimed that people would be more suspicious of strangers, including the protagonist. None of those mechanics have been confirmed, but it sounds great.

If those systems work together, people fear what they think you are, and you could potentially use that fear against them. Maybe you arrive somewhere already under suspicion, then turn that reputation into an advantage when things go wrong. That is my interpretation so far, and I do not know. I would want fear to have a cost. Scaring enemies might help you escape, but what happens to the person who sheltered you? What happens when frightened people spread another story about you? You could win the immediate encounter and make your next visit harder.

Forests, villages and a more focused map could put stealth front and centre

The July report also included claims about fluid movement influenced by older games, plus a map containing forest and villages. Keep that in mind alongside reports describing Hexe as a more focused or linear game. We do not know the final structure, but a story with a clear path can still have explorable areas; they just may not be Assassin's Creed Odyssey size.

I want the place to feel dangerous. Forest gives you cover, but isolation could be its own problem. A town gives you information, but it also has witnesses. I think that is where stealth is going to play a huge part. I want to avoid detection because I understand what getting caught will do, and then put somebody I care about in that equation. Maybe give me an escape route that takes planning. Let a safe house become compromised halfway through the missions. Throw some wrenches in the wheel.

A modern day character named Anna may tie into the Animus

There is also a possible modern day character in the casting: a competitive career woman called Anna. MP1st interprets her different background as a sign that she will connect to the Animus side of the narrative. Some people like the modern day material and some do not. We will see. I am not even worried about it.

Development changes and a 2027 window keep expectations grounded

There are reasons to keep expectations grounded. Ubisoft's official March update identified that the project's creative director is moving forward, and an October article referenced reporting about developers being moved away during restructuring. We do not know how these changes have affected the finished experience. Promising character descriptions can tell us what they are trying to build, but none of it is set in stone.

Release rumours have also disagreed. Older claims pointed to June 2027, while other reporting has suggested later that year, maybe fall or the holiday season of 2027. One article points toward the second half of 2027 at the earliest. Ubisoft has not given a firm date, so I am treating 2027 as a reported window rather than settled.

Still, it has my attention: a protagonist being hunted, a healer who has already survived persecution, a father whose occupation creates a terrible family conflict, a fear system, and more stealth. I am ready. If the atmosphere is what I think it is going to be, this could be something truly special.

Should the headsman father end up protecting his daughter, or staying loyal to the system that is hunting her?
