Avengers: Doomsday Teasers May Hide a Birth, Child, Death and Afterlife Pattern

The Russo brothers called the four Doomsday teasers stories and clues, and the pattern I see in them points toward the Void and Battleworld.

In January 2026, the Russo brothers told fans that the four Avengers: Doomsday teasers were not teasers or trailers at all, and my theory is that together they trace a pattern of birth, child, death and afterlife. That pattern, if I am right, could point toward the Void becoming a refuge when the multiverse falls.

At the same time, Marvel had put a live Avengers: Doomsday countdown clock on Marvel Entertainment's YouTube page. The fourth teaser had also arrived, showing the Thing from the Fantastic Four meeting Shuri and M'Baku, with the people of Talokan there as well.

The Russo Brothers Said the Doomsday Teasers Were Stories and Clues

Alongside that fourth release, the Russo brothers gave a very specific message. They said the releases from the previous four weeks were not teasers or trailers. "They are stories. They are clues." Then came a trailing ellipsis and a simple instruction to pay attention.

I will put a disclaimer on this. The Russo brothers do this sometimes, and it does not always lead anywhere. As far as I am concerned these are teasers: whatever anyone says, they are teasing us for the movie. I did not believe, however, that they were trailers. As far as we could tell, they were clips from the film, and an actual trailer would still follow.

Some people were pointing to a glitch in the countdown clock at the end of each teaser and suggesting that might be the clue. I did not think so. I think the clues come from looking at all of the teasers together, because the Russos waited until the fourth one to say this when they could have said it all along.

Four Teasers Built Around Steve Rogers, Thor, the X-Men and Wakanda

The first teaser was the return of Steve Rogers. With it came the message that this was the character that changed our lives, the story that brought us all here together, and that it was always going to come back to this.

Then came Thor, with the line "When even a god has to pray for strength," plus the fear doom hashtag, which I have liked since Marvel started using it. The X-Men teaser asked "Who will you be when you close your eyes?" and I think that is a clue both for that teaser and for the story overall. The fourth teaser declared "Doomsday has begun," which I think might hint at what we will see in the film.

The Talokan Temple in the Desert Might Be the Void

When the newest teaser first leaked, I found it very odd that we saw what seemed to be an ancient Talokan temple above water in the desert. Some people came to believe that this might actually be the Void.

I find that very curious, and it becomes more interesting in light of my theory about what each teaser represents. Keep that temple in mind, because it becomes important when we reach the fourth stage.

Birth, Child, Death, Afterlife: What Each Teaser Could Represent

The Steve Rogers teaser confirmed Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers, but it specifically showed him with a child. So the theme of the first one could be birth. In the second, Thor is with a fully grown child, his daughter Love, and he is praying to his father to survive so he can be with her again.

The X-Men teaser is where things go wrong. The X-Mansion seems vacant and beat up, with Professor X and Magneto there, and it looks like the Sentinels might have attacked it. In the Cyclops scene, two Sentinels stand behind him and a lot is destroyed. Many people have theorised, and I believe this as well, that there is some editing going on and that perhaps Jean Grey has died. She is sitting in front of Cyclops, and that may be why he loses control and takes off his visor.

That makes the third theme death. If the children's thread holds, maybe Cyclops loses a child, perhaps Nathan, Rachel or Hope. We do not know, and it could still be Jean. Then the fourth theme is afterlife, which ties back to that temple possibly being the Void. So the stages run from birth through the middle of life to death and the afterlife, and it really makes sense to me.

The Void Could Be the Life Raft Against Doom's Battleworld

By afterlife, I do not necessarily mean specific deaths of specific characters, although those would come. I think the afterlife would essentially be the Void. If Doom builds Battleworld out of the remnants of many universes, and it is not the Void itself, then the Void is probably where a lot of heroes go to survive the end of the multiverse.

That makes sense because the TVA, with Loki in charge, is good. Mobius, B15, everyone there is good, and they know about the Void, so they would probably want to save as many people as they can by taking them there. Doom is going to attack the TVA, so they would probably evacuate its people to the Void too. It would literally be an afterlife, after the multiverse is completely destroyed.

In the comics, the people on Battleworld do not remember the past, and I believe that is how it will go. We have seen leaked concept art of Doom on his throne with Doctor Strange at his side and Sue Storm and Franklin Richards on his other side. I do not think they remember what happened before. I think Doctor Strange does, because in the comics he joins Doom willingly and keeps his memories. Then people in life rafts turn up who remember everything, and that is where things start to fall apart for Doom. If Battleworld is not the Void, I believe the Void will essentially be that life raft.

Doomsday Might Reach Battleworld Faster Than Expected

What this could imply is that we might get to Battleworld a lot quicker than we thought in Avengers: Doomsday. That is the feeling I had based on what the Russos had recently been saying.

It also made me think these might be scenes that are not in the movie, which audiences would be expected to see first. My one pushback is that I think it would be a bit much to expect people to see all of these before the film. Yes, they were online, and yes, they played in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash. But do they mean that much? Yes and no. Knowing Steve Rogers is back is a lot, but the film could explain it. The same goes for Thor, though I really love that prayer; it is very poetic and I think it should remain in the movie. There is a chance these are not in the film at all and are just teasing us, despite what the Russos say.

The Russos Have Teased Things Before That Never Paid Off

I do like birth, child, death and afterlife as the theme, and I think that no matter what, Doomsday ends with the multiverse destroyed, or afterlife. I think these are legitimate clues. But the Russo brothers do tend to tease things that sometimes amount to nothing.

Remember the look hard, look harder message around Infinity War and Endgame. We never really found out what that was; we thought it might have been the title. They had already done the same thing for Doomsday, and they are probably never going to reveal it. This might be the same, something to get us excited and talking online. Part of the marketing for Avengers: Doomsday relies on people like me and a lot of my friends who cover this to dig into it. We talk about Doomsday basically every day, so it is pretty genius.

Doom Could Be the Thread Connecting Every Clue

I think a lot of it has to do with Doom. Maybe he is after children. In the Wakanda teaser, I believe he is there. On John Campea's show, a couple of people seemed to be hinting that Doom was present before Campea stopped them from saying it. I thought so as well; you can feel an ominous presence. When Shuri gives the Wakanda Forever salute at the end, I think she might be looking at Doom, and I think this is Doom convincing them to go fight another superhero team.

So the clues may simply be what we know will happen: Steve Rogers returns; Thor fights Doom, loses, and prays to Odin before trying again; Doom attacks the X-Men with the Sentinels; and Doom misleads Earth's heroes. I also still like birth, child, death and afterlife. Sadly, I do think some X-Men die in that third teaser. It could be Jean. I hope it is not a child of Cyclops, but you never know.

Why I Doubted the Countdown Clock Would Simply Run Out

In January, I did not believe in the slightest that the live clock would stay up until release. I thought it would most likely be interrupted at some point, because Marvel does live events and I was sure it had Doomsday events planned. We had seen the teasers glitch before, and I thought those glitches were clues that the clock itself would eventually glitch too, with something Doom does affecting it, or with another event like a chair event.

Originally, when the Steve Rogers teaser leaked, its countdown did not say 12 or 11 months. It said six, counting down to what I thought would be the full trailer. I thought the clock could stay up for months, and I found the idea of bringing the movie into real life really incredible marketing, which is what the teasers and clues were trying to do.

Do you think the four teasers really follow a birth, child, death and afterlife pattern, or were the Russos just teasing us again?
