Every Leaked Deadpool Variant From the Marvel Snap Reveal and the Deadpool Corps Photo, Explained

A new in-game reveal and a leaked group photo point to a Perfect Pool, a Cassandra Nova who looks more comic accurate, and a Deadpool Corps led by a masked Lady Deadpool.

Marvel Studios has not been leaning on trailers and TV spots for Deadpool and Wolverine the way it normally would this close to release. Usually by this point there would already be a string of TV spots out, but instead the studio has been building anticipation mostly through the press tour that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been on. Even so, plenty is still coming out through interviews and other promotions, including a new officially revealed Deadpool variant and a separately leaked photo showing a whole group of Deadpool variants together. I'll give a spoiler warning before getting into the leaked material for anyone who wants to skip it.

Marvel Snap Reveals a Deadpool Variant With Long Hair and an Unscarred Face

The one variant that has actually been officially revealed, even though it did not come from Marvel Studios directly, showed up through Marvel Snap, the digital collectible card game. From July 9th, Marvel Snap ran a season called Deadpool Domination, going through August 24th, clearly timed to help promote the film. Since it is a Marvel product, it likely needed some level of approval from Marvel Studios even if it is not part of the theatrical marketing push itself.

The variant it revealed is a long haired Wade Wilson whose face was not disfigured by the procedure the main Deadpool went through. This is not a new discovery on its own since the same look has already surfaced in leaked set photos, where people have been calling him Samurai Pool because of the hair. Nobody actually knows the character's real name yet. I've heard people throw out Handsome Pool or Perfect Pool too, and that second one might genuinely fit best here: a version of Wade who went through everything our Wade went through but came out the other side without any of the side effects.

I think this version is going to exist mainly to make our Deadpool jealous. He has that luscious long hair and looks the way Wade used to look before the accident, and I would not be surprised if this variant ends up dying in the film and our Deadpool is a little bit happy about it out of jealousy. In some of the leaked photos we've also seen Reynolds alongside Jackman and a stunt double playing the normal, scarred, unmasked Wade holding Dogpool, and Wolverine has already been shown poking fun at Deadpool's real face in the promotions we've seen. The dog playing Dogpool reportedly won an award for being one of the ugliest dogs, which fans already love her for.

Cassandra Nova's More Comic Accurate Look Raises Questions About Her Powers

The Marvel Snap material also gave us a look at Cassandra Nova, and it has left some fans a little confused because she looks much closer to her comic book appearance than she does in the actual Deadpool and Wolverine promotions we've seen. That has people speculating that she might be using her psychic abilities within the film to mask her true appearance, showing everyone a version of herself that is not wrinkled and scarred the way she looks in the comics.

That theory does line up with her comic history. In the comics, Cassandra Nova came into the womb as a kind of twin for Charles Xavier, and he fought her right there before she was born, believing he had killed her. He nearly did, defeating her, but she survived without a body and eventually rebuilt herself. Ever since then she has looked wrinkled, scarred, and bald, and she is written as incredibly scary and powerful, so it is entirely possible the film gives her psychic disguise abilities as a plot point.

At the same time, I have to note that Marvel Snap as a game often just goes with comic accurate designs regardless of how a character looks in a specific film, so the simpler explanation is that this is just the game doing its own thing rather than hinting at a power the movie will actually use.

Does the New Deadpool Variant Exist in the Comics? I Don't Think So

As for the long haired Deadpool variant itself, I don't believe this look exists in the comics at all, at least not to my knowledge, and I'd consider myself familiar with all or most of the Deadpool variants. If anyone knows of a comic version I've missed, I'd want to hear about it, but my assumption is that this design was created specifically for the MCU. That would also explain why he looks like he is going to appear exactly this way on screen, whereas the other variants we're about to get into probably lean closer to their more comic accurate designs.

The Leaked Deadpool Corps Photo Shows Lady Deadpool, Headpool and a Cowboy Deadpool

Moving into the leaked photo of what looks like the Deadpool Corps, this is the spoiler section, so consider this the warning if anyone wants to skip ahead. The image shows a large group of Deadpool variants with Lady Deadpool appearing to lead them. We still do not know for certain who is under that mask. People who saw the first 40 minutes of the film reported that she never took her mask off, but she reportedly sounded like Blake Lively, which has shifted speculation toward Reynolds's wife rather than another previously rumored name, though that is not confirmed.

Alongside her, the photo appears to show a normal looking Deadpool, Headpool floating above to the left, and on the right a clear Cowboy Deadpool, with a few other variants that are harder to make out. We've already seen promotional glimpses of Kidpool and Babypool elsewhere, and it looks like this larger Deadpool Corps grouping is going to sit alongside a smaller main cast of variants, which fits with this being a big multiverse film built around Deadpool searching different universes for the right Wolverine.

My Theory: The Deadpool Corps Could Face Cassandra Nova Alongside X-Men Cameos

Since Deadpool is searching across universes for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, it makes sense he would run into other Deadpool variants along the way, and I want to float the idea that these variants could end up forming something like an army that helps him in a huge battle at the end of the film, possibly when he finally faces Cassandra Nova. I'd personally hope that battle is not just the Deadpool Corps fighting alone, but also includes the X-Men cameos that have been rumored and in some cases confirmed.

We have already seen a number of X-Men villains show up across trailers and official photos, but no confirmed X-Men heroes beyond Wolverine himself, even though we know more are coming. That raises the possibility of the kind of large scale battle Marvel Studios is known for, even though word has been that much of this film was shot practically rather than leaning heavily on CGI. If that big battle does happen with a large group of X-Men and Deadpool variants together, I think it has the potential to look excellent, though there is no way to confirm any of this from a leaked photo alone.

What do you think is actually going on in that leaked Deadpool Corps photo?
