Marvel Studios Confirms 11 New Projects, Including Avengers: Doomsday, Secret Wars and Ghost Rider

From Vision Quest to a new X-Men movie, here is everything confirmed to be in development right now, plus the two projects that just got scrapped.

TC The Cosmic Wonder (AI-assisted)2 August 2026 · Editor: Digital Fox Talent Editorial Team 1,804 words · 8 min read

Published 2 August 2026. Words like "tonight" or "next week" refer to that date.

Marvel Studios has confirmed a big slate of new projects, and it has also canceled a couple of them at the same time. I'm going through all 11 projects that are currently confirmed to be in development right now, plus the two that just got scrapped, so there is a lot to get through.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already in theaters, so I'm not counting it among the 11 even though it would otherwise be first on this list. It has already broken Avengers: Endgame's domestic opening records, which is crazy. I've seen it, and I personally loved it, so if you haven't watched it yet, go see it for yourself.

Avengers: Endgame Encore Arrived September 25, 2026 With New Doomsday-Connected Footage

The next project up was Avengers: Endgame Encore, which came out September 25, 2026. There is going to be new footage included, and what we are hearing is a new post-credit scene as well.

The Russo brothers and Kevin Feige have both said there is going to be new footage that directly connects to the story of Avengers: Doomsday.

Vision Quest Closed Out the Wanda Trilogy From October 14, 2026

Vision Quest is something I have personally been really excited for, and even more so now that Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, said at San Diego Comic-Con that Vision Quest is the finale of the Wanda trilogy. It is going to relate directly to Wanda.

We know both of her reincarnated children, Billy and Tommy, known by their superhero names Wiccan and Speed, are going to be in this. Vision is returning too, and he should get back all of the memories the old Vision had, essentially making him basically the same Vision he was before.

All of this is leading to a family reunion with Wanda, which we're hearing probably will not happen in Doomsday but instead in Avengers: Secret Wars. It will be really interesting to watch how they wrap all of this up and bring Wanda back into it.

Avengers: Doomsday Arrives December 18, 2026 With Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom

This is the big one, the movie everybody has their eyes on. Spider-Man feels like its own entity, the most popular hero of all time. It was going to be big no matter what. People are really looking at Avengers: Doomsday to see if Marvel can still carry a film like this, and I think they can.

I've seen the official trailer they released, and I've also seen the trailer they showed at San Diego Comic-Con. Even though it was leaked, that one blew my mind, and I cannot wait until they release it to the public. December 18 is when Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU as Victor Von Doom.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Lands in March 2027 Between Doomsday and Secret Wars

This one is really interesting because it takes place between Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, and we're pretty sure a new universe, a new multiverse really, gets created at the end of Doomsday. So how does Daredevil: Born Again season 3 fit into all of that? That's something we're all wondering right now.

My guess is they will simply say it takes place before Avengers: Doomsday. That's what most of us are thinking, though you never know for sure. I would count on it happening before Doomsday. Either way, cannot wait for season 3, and Defenders fans should be really happy about it.

Avengers: Secret Wars Set for December 17, 2027 to Launch a New MCU Universe

This is huge because it is going to give us a new universe. Across all of the interviews Kevin Feige has done for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, before San Diego Comic-Con, after it, and at a big convention in Shanghai, he confirmed this is a new universe.

It will carry over some of the old continuity while also being completely fresh at the same time, bringing in a bit of a blank slate for the X-Men and the new Fantastic Four. Everyone has their eyes on this because it will give us a new MCU, and we're all wondering what that is going to look like.

Ghost Rider Arrives in 2028 With Ryan Gosling Cast in the Lead

We're finally getting a Ghost Rider movie. Marvel has only confirmed 2028 in general, not an exact date, but we're thinking mid-2028. Ryan Gosling has been cast as Ghost Rider, and I personally really like that decision. I would say I love it.

Blade Has Been Officially Canceled, and Kevin Feige Says He Feels Like a Failure

We are not getting Blade. It has been officially canceled. Kevin Feige said he feels like a failure that they couldn't get it right. Mahershala Ali, who was going to play Blade, recently said: "You had me under contract. They have billions of dollars. If they wanted to do the movie, we would have done the movie. I feel ready to move on from the Blade questions. Those questions are for them." Meaning those questions are for Marvel.

It seems like it really wasn't Mahershala Ali's fault. He was under contract and clearly wanted to do it, but Marvel couldn't figure it out. I think this might be trying to trick us a little, because we know Ghost Rider is coming, and we know the Midnight Sons are coming. Blade and the Midnight Sons were actually supposed to shoot back to back with the same director.

So although the Blade movie might not be happening, the Midnight Sons are, and Blade should be part of that team. Maybe Mahershala Ali already knows he's going to show up there, or maybe they're going to get a new Blade. I think Mahershala Ali was perfect casting. Some people have said he's getting older, but Wesley Snipes wasn't exactly young when he played Blade either. I think it comes down to whether he still wants to do it with Marvel Studios.

Black Panther 3 Confirmed for December 15, 2028 With a New Actor Playing T'Challa Jr.

The actor cast as our new Black Panther is playing T'Challa Jr., the same character we saw in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever post-credit scene. The biggest question is how the time jump works, since he was a small child in that scene and now he needs to be a full-grown adult Black Panther.

I'm sure Doomsday and Secret Wars will give us something with the multiverse and time that explains how he grows up that fast. We do know Denzel Washington is going to be part of Black Panther 3.

We've also heard that both Ghost Rider and Black Panther are going to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. That's what a lot of insiders are saying, though it's not confirmed. It makes sense given we've also heard a lot of the new X-Men are going to appear in Doomsday and/or Secret Wars, since Marvel seems to be starting the new universe before we actually get to it.

A New X-Men Movie Is in Development, Possibly for Early 2028

We think this is probably coming early 2028, though Marvel hasn't confirmed an official date. Jake Schreier is directing, with some really great writers attached, and it sounds like they've already cast some X-Men. They apparently have a script that is completely different and more original than what was originally planned.

Kevin Feige and Jake Schreier have said this is going to be a young X-Men team. Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost, they're casting for Cyclops right now, and it looks like Beast and Rogue have been cast too, in what sounds like an X-Men: First Class approach with more characters. They still need Professor X and Magneto, and it's possible Mister Sinister is the villain, or that Emma Frost starts as a villain before joining the team.

These characters are going to be around in the MCU for a long time. Look at where Robert Downey Jr. started as Iron Man and how long that's been going. These new X-Men could be around for 15-plus years.

Shang-Chi 2 Is Confirmed by Director Destin Daniel Cretton

I'm so glad this was confirmed. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed the first Shang-Chi and also just directed Spider-Man: Brand New Day, confirmed in interviews that Shang-Chi 2 is still happening, and that Shang-Chi is appearing in both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

This had been planned for a long time. The post-credit material and the ending of the first Shang-Chi set up a lot involving his sister and the Ten Rings organization, along with him joining the Avengers, which we then see play out in Doomsday and Secret Wars.

Nova Is Officially a Movie, Not a Series, Kevin Feige Confirms

Nova was first announced as a series, confirmed by head of Marvel Television Brad Winderbaum. I liked that we were getting Nova at all, but I also thought it would be better as a movie. Michael Waldron was said to be writing the series.

Then Kevin Feige confirmed in an interview with Brandon Davis: "It's a movie." Michael Waldron wrote Loki season 1 and Multiverse of Madness, and he's currently helping write both Doomsday and Secret Wars, so I'm excited for what he does with this.

Ryan Gosling was one of the frontrunners to play Nova, and now he's playing Ghost Rider instead because he wanted that role. So I'm wondering who they have in mind for Nova now.

Wonder Man Season 2 Has Been Canceled After Previously Being Announced

Wonder Man season 2 was announced and has now been canceled. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II commented on it. He's still in the MCU and could still appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

I actually quite enjoyed the first season, surprisingly, because it was a very different style than anything we've gotten before from the MCU. I really like him as Wonder Man, so there are probably still plans for him in some Avengers films and later in the new MCU. Sadly, right now, season 2 is not happening.

Deadpool 4 Is Happening, Confirmed by Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Feige

Ryan Reynolds confirmed this, and so did Marvel president Kevin Feige. Reynolds has already teased that it's an ensemble film, so maybe some new X-Men show up, or maybe it's X-Force. We're unsure at this point.

Will Wolverine be back with him again? We've heard Marvel might not want to cast a new Wolverine for a very long time, so is Hugh Jackman's Wolverine going to be with the new X-Men, or off with Deadpool again getting into more trouble, which I think a lot of people would want to see. I loved Deadpool and Wolverine, so we'll see what Deadpool 4 has in store.

What are you most excited for out of all of this?
