Marvel Announces Zodiac, a 2028 Disney Plus Spy Thriller With a SHIELD Logo
Marvel Television's new series is one of the shows Puck reported were in development, and its logo hints at a link to Agents of SHIELD
Marvel Television has a new Disney Plus series on the way called Zodiac, and it's coming in 2028. Brad Winderbaum announced the show as Marvel kicked off its television panel, and the logo looks like it's going to allude to SHIELD, with what looks like a SHIELD logo at the front of it.
The reporting from the Puck newsletter over the past month turned out to be true: Zodiac is one of the three to five new shows Marvel has in development. So far, all we know is that it's a spy thriller. Marvel opened the panel with announcements of new projects, and it was "already blowing my expectations of what would be announced at this panel." Another reaction from our side: "This is exactly what I wanted. This is so exciting. Marvel TV has a future."
The Zodiac logo puts a SHIELD symbol on the A
Even just the typeface of the logo stood out. It was giving off Loki vibes. The first image we saw was not the best, but the A in Zodiac had something going on in the middle. It looked a little like a stealth bomber, and there was something in the hole of the A that seemed to be a little bit more than stylization.
Another angle showed the SHIELD logo on the A. The O kind of looks like a lock and key mechanism. Marvel Studios then released an official clean version of the logo.
Fans were already throwing out guesses about what's in the circle, with some saying an asterisk and some saying an eye. An asterisk could potentially point to Thunderbolts. The design also looks mechanically like something that has been separated or opened out, and it arguably looks like a shield that's been broken.
Zodiac might be connected to Agents of SHIELD
Because the logo incorporates details from SHIELD, it kind of seems like Zodiac might be a spin off of Agents of SHIELD or related to it. Based on what we know so far, one guess is that it's going to be a continuation of Agents of SHIELD.
That remains a guess for now. Details were still coming in as the show was being announced, with people in the room writing up what the series is going to be, and we were still waiting to see whether Marvel would share more.
The name Zodiac caught us off guard
The title felt like a strange choice, and at first it seemed like Zodiac was only a working title. It also seemed crazy that Marvel is using the name of one of the greatest movies; it's like calling your Marvel television show Bundy.
There are two very famous meanings of the word: the zodiac calendar, and the Zodiac Killer. Our minds immediately went to the killer, and there was also a very famous movie about the killings. Could David Fincher even be involved? He's done streaming series.
What do you think the symbol in the middle of the Zodiac logo is?
