The Marvel series arrives Wednesdays at 6 PM Pacific on Disney Plus, with three weeks of two episode drops before switching to single episodes

Published 11 October 2026. Words like "tonight" or "next week" refer to that date.

Vision Quest airs on Disney Plus on Wednesdays at 6 PM Pacific, and its first three weeks are double episode drops, starting October 14. That schedule was announced in the last week, and now the Vision Quest cast has taken the stage at Marvel's panel.

Vision Quest could be the strong closer of Marvel's panel

Before the cast came out, we were wondering whether Vision Quest might be the big thing at the panel. Maybe Marvel would show the audience something like the first 20 minutes of the first episode. The template lately for Marvel panels has been to start strong with something new, fill in the middle with maybe more expected but still cool stuff, and then end strong with a big surprise.

It would not be surprising if Vision Quest was what Marvel decided to end strong with, and we agreed this could be the strong ending, because they had the people out. It looked like the full cast. It also looked like the reason they were ending with this, while still having so much time left, was that the audience was getting to see the first episode.

James Spader's beard in Vision Quest looks real

James Spader was on stage, and he looks good. Looking that good at James Spader's age would be something to thank the gods for, with the admission of not looking that good even now. Money does a lot, and being able to afford tailored suits does a lot too, with a nod to "that NBC's Blacklist money."

Vision Quest obviously shot a while ago, and his beard in it looks to be a real beard. Either it's real or it's some very good beard work, and beards are notoriously hard for makeup artists to nail. He has already moved on from it. They probably wrapped the show in like 2024. We knew what he would look like because he went to a friend's wedding with his giant bushy beard.

There's also a recent promo for Vision Quest where Emily Hampshire as Edith says, "This is the Avatar form you took." Spader's character answers, "It suits me." The reaction: "I love it."

Seeing the Vision Quest premiere with a crowd is a reason to be in the room

If the panel crowd is getting the first episode, they're seeing something everyone else will get in six days. But seeing it with an audience is a little reason to be there. Most of us were at the X-Men '97 premiere for season one, where they showed what was maybe the first three episodes, and it was cool to be in the room with a bunch of super fans cheering.

It's always a gamble with press there, though, whether those people are actually fans or whether they're thinking they've got nine more of these panels and reports to file.

Three weeks of Vision Quest double drops, then single episodes

Vision Quest is coming out Wednesdays at 6 PM Pacific on Disney Plus. October 14 brings episodes 1 and 2. October 21 brings episodes 3 and 4. October 28 brings episodes 5 and 6. Then November 4 will be episode 7, just one episode, and November 11, Veterans Day, will be episode 8.

Why Disney Plus is going with two Vision Quest episodes at a time

Why not release it weekly? It seems that Disney Plus and the people running it now understand that most audiences want kind of a hybrid. They want to be able to binge a little bit, and they want a second episode for that sitting.

There's some firsthand insight here, from a meeting with Adam Smith, the head of Disney direct to consumer, who is in charge of all of Disney Plus and Hulu and the strategy behind it, and who used to work at YouTube. He came across as a very smart guy, and the read is that he understands that Netflix's model of a binge drop isn't necessarily the answer, but HBO's model of weekly for shows like this isn't the answer either. He also seems to understand that younger audiences want at least two episodes for that longer viewing session, so that's why they're doing two at a time. It's not as fun for people like us who cover it, but it's going to be fine.

People have also pointed out, now that the run times have been released, that those last two episodes are significantly longer than the others. So it kind of makes sense that they are standalones, rather than Disney doing four weeks of double drops.

Would you rather get Vision Quest two episodes at a time or one each week?
