Leaked Avengers: Doomsday Photos Show Doctor Doom as an Insider Describes a New Trailer
Insider James McAvoy says two AI edited images are real and describes a different Doomsday trailer that may have been bound for Hall H, ending on Doom's line to Steve Rogers
Two leaked images from Avengers: Doomsday surfaced in July 2026 showing Doctor Doom, and the insider James McAvoy reportedly confirmed they are real. On top of that, McAvoy described a second Doomsday trailer he says he saw, with different material from the one Marvel had just released. When I wrote this in July 2026, that trailer looked like it could be what Marvel Studios planned to show at San Diego Comic Con's Hall H that Saturday.
I will go through both images, what I think they tell us about the plot, and McAvoy's full description of that trailer, which ends on a line from Doom to Steve Rogers that I love.
Marvel looked set to bring a new Avengers: Doomsday trailer to Hall H
At the time, it looked like Marvel Studios was pulling out the big guns for Hall H. Saturday was the day Marvel was set to take the stage, and it sounded like they were going to reveal another trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.
Some people who saw what Marvel showed at CinemaCon noted that the trailer we got for Doomsday was very similar to what they saw, but there were some scenes missing, including some fights. It sounded like Marvel Studios might have been holding those back to give something really big at Comic Con.
James McAvoy says the leaked Doomsday photos are edited with AI but real
The two new images were not part of the trailer. They are leaked, and while they do not give too much away, they do show Doctor Doom. They were reportedly confirmed to be real by James McAvoy, who has had a lot of information about Avengers: Doomsday, and a lot of it has been proven real by the CinemaCon trailer and the trailer we had just received. So he had a lot of credibility at that point.
McAvoy said these two images are edited with AI, but that they are "100% real." A lot of leakers had been doing this lately. They get actual scenes and actual photos, then put them through AI as an attempt to stop Marvel from flagging them and deleting their accounts. So these are enhanced and edited with AI, but apparently these are two scenes we are going to get.
Why I believe Doctor Doom is on the Fantastic Four ship
The first image has Shang-Chi, Sam Wilson's Captain America, Yelena Belova and Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four ship, with Doctor Doom in the background. As I said in my Avengers: Doomsday breakdown, I believe Doom is on the Fantastic Four ship when it comes to the 616 universe. That fits everything we have heard from the Fantastic Four universe, and it explains the Fantastic Four's post credit scene, with Doom showing up at the Baxter Building not as a villain at that point, but as kind of an accomplice, almost as a friend.
Is he showing up as a friend to Reed? I don't think so, but most likely to Sue. My read is that he goes to Reed saying he needs help, that the multiverse is going to be destroyed, that he has seen incursions happen. I do believe Doom has been going through the multiverse, and he is basically going to tell Reed they have to stop this. Then together they go to the 616 universe where the Avengers are, and before they leave, they get Steve Rogers. So on that ship should be the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom and Steve Rogers.
Once they get to the 616 universe, talk and go over the plans, they go to the X-Men universe. I believe that is what this photo shows, because every character in it is in the fight at the X-Mansion. Thanks to the leaked photos and basically everything we have heard, Doom is going to be there, raising the Sentinels and having them fight the X-Men, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four.
The Magneto, Professor X and Gambit photo could mean Professor X survives
The second image is crazy: Magneto with a hurt arm, Professor X in the back, and Channing Tatum's Gambit. Again, remember these were put through AI, but Thor's hammer Mjolnir is there, with cracks in it. So this looks like it takes place after the Sentinel fight. Who knows if Thor, Captain America, Cyclops and everybody are able to take down the Sentinels, and then after Doom leaves, they get together and go to Latveria to try to stop him. That could be what this is.
I really like this, because I think it is really cool. And if it is real, it would tell me that Patrick Stewart's Professor X actually does survive, which I am here for. He has died so many times that one more would hardly seem like much, but I don't want to see it anymore. At least he has not died yet if this photo is real, and according to James McAvoy, it is. Maybe we would see both scenes in the Comic Con trailer.
McAvoy's trailer description opens on Doom's throne and a painting of his family
McAvoy also described a trailer he had just seen, saying in all caps that he had seen another Avengers: Doomsday trailer with different material. In his description he wrote that it had been circulating in various groups, and that while he honestly did not know, it could be the trailer shown during the Saturday panel. I was just guessing, but it would make sense. Marvel was always going to show a trailer at Comic Con, and to make it a little special, it would make sense to throw in some new material. I hoped they would release it publicly, because people are allowed to film in there and it was going to leak online anyway.
According to McAvoy, it begins with Doom sitting on his throne looking straight ahead, probably in Latveria. Marvel had just held a massive expo in Shanghai with a huge display of Doom's throne, so it is not exactly hidden. Everyone would love to see it, and I don't think it spoils too much. The castle is shown from the inside, highlighting several environments and details, as Doom walks through the corridors until he reaches a huge painting of a woman and a child, just like the poster. A voice in the background says, "My family was killed because of you."
As I broke down with the earlier trailer, I believe that giant painting is a dedication to Doom's former wife and son. It seems they died due to an incursion, at least that is what I think happened, because below them in that poster is a cracked world. My theory is that while he was trying to save his universe from an incursion, trying to design or build something to stop it, it exploded, scarred him completely and killed his family.
I think that will be the change from the comic origin. Rather than a machine built to talk to his mother in the hell dimension, it is a machine built to stop an incursion. I think that is fine. I do wonder what the connection with Reed is going to be, and we will have to wait for the movie to see.
Why I think Doom blames Steve Rogers for his family's death
That line, "My family was killed because of you," is about Steve Rogers, in my view. Steve went back in time and stayed there, and he was not supposed to do that. From what we know, and the trailer shows this, Loki shows up and moves him to the Fantastic Four universe.
Since Steve is from the 616 universe, the original Avengers universe to us, his presence draws that universe toward the Fantastic Four's universe. So the fact that Steve Rogers is there is the reason an incursion is happening with the Fantastic Four's and Doom's universe. Doom builds a machine to try to prevent it, it kills his family, and so he blames Steve.
Avengers Tower, Yelena's family moment and the ship from the leaked photo
McAvoy's description then cuts to the Fantastic Four ship arriving on Earth. Thor flies to the ship, then there is the same scene of Steve picking up Mjolnir. Thor, the Fantastic Four and Steve arrive at Avengers Tower, shown from a new angle. Steve greets Sam and Bucky, and Reed says they have less than 24 hours to stop the incursions.
Steve also talks to Yelena, and we have actually heard about this. We heard something along the lines of Steve telling Yelena that Natasha Romanoff was family to him, so she is family as well, which I think will be a pretty cool scene. Then two ships depart with two different groups, with some heroes inside one of them and Doom visible behind them. That is the first photo, and that is probably why it leaked: apparently the trailer had leaked somewhere. I had not been able to find it.
Talokan, Mystique and the Cyclops shot at Sam
Next come scenes in Talokan, then the fights: Yelena fights another Yelena who is Mystique, Nightcrawler takes on Reed, Shang-Chi faces Gambit, and Cyclops shoots at Sam. We had heard about that Cyclops moment before, and I just cannot wait to see it. More Cyclops scenes is what I want more than anything.
Beast and Reed are shown talking. Beast, Reed and Shuri are reportedly the ones who come up with a way to stop the incursions. We have heard it might be cannons placed on different Earths to push them away. Those three are definitely the smartest people there, maybe apart from Doom, though we know Reed is smarter than Doom, so it makes sense they would come up with the plan.
Gambit studies Mjolnir in the scene from the second photo
Magneto then appears in his suit in a place McAvoy said he could not identify. That might be the second photo, because the location is a little hard to identify. Loki also appears at Steve's house. I like that; we have seen it, but I want to see more.
Then there is a scene at the Fantastic Four Tower with the X-Men present, and Gambit looks at Mjolnir on a table. Now that that is mentioned, that is totally what the second photo shows. Gambit is looking at Mjolnir, and I am sure he will try to pick it up at some point. The setting does look a little older, so this is probably the Baxter Building. After that, Reed and Doom talk, which is exactly what I need. I have to know the backstory and see that relationship.
A bloody hand in the TVA and Doom's final line to Steve
A scene shows a bloody hand in a TVA hallway, which does not look good for Loki. We have heard a lot of plot leaks, and some say he dies while some say he does not. I hope he doesn't. I am sure there is a plan even if he does, but I just don't want to see it. Loki has become one of my favorite characters ever because of everything we have seen him go through.
After the same Doom versus Thor scene, it gets pretty crazy. The trailer ends with the Avengers, the X-Men and Reed facing the Sentinels and Doom. It is the same scene that leaked previously, but much more complete and visually better, and I wanted to see it in something other than a poor quality copy, released by Marvel itself. The Avengers: Doomsday logo appears, and in the last shot, Doom stares at Steve. The screen goes black, and Doom's voice says, "You will forgive me one day."
We had heard a leak that this line would be in the trailer. It was not, but maybe Marvel was saving it for this next one. This sounds like a completely different trailer, with some of the same scenes but a lot of new ones. I have zero doubt these scenes are in the movie, based on everything we know, and a different trailer for Comic Con would make sense, so I thought we would get it. It was not confirmed, though, so I was keeping my fingers crossed.
Do you think Doom really blames Steve Rogers for the loss of his family, or is there more to that painting than an incursion?
