WandaVision Episode 8 Left Me Wanting More Answers, but That Vision Ending Made It Worth It

The penultimate episode leaned on flashbacks and half explanations, while the end credits scene with Hayward and a new Vision stole the show

WandaVision Episode 8 left me slightly disappointed, because I thought we were going to get a little bit more answers since it was the second to last episode. What rescued it was the end credits sequence, which I thought was really great.

A flashback episode heavy on quasi answers

The episode opens in Salem, Massachusetts in 1693, with Kathryn Hahn's Agatha facing her coven and draining their life force, before moving through Wanda's past: Sokovia, the sitcoms that shaped her, and the early days with Vision. Some of it was effective, but I felt the show was wasting time. As I put it, "i think there's a little bit too many quasi answers on this show." We learn Wanda had powers beforehand, but was she a mutant, or did she simply have powers? The show will not say.

I would appreciate the dramatic moments more if they were not taking away from the mystery. I am glad Wanda and Vision are bonding over a sitcom, but that time could have given us answers. The episode never said Nexus being, only the first commercial was explained, and there was no new commercial this week.

The Hayward and Vision ending made it worth it

The end credits scene with Hayward was the highlight. He appears to have the actual Vision body, and a new look comes online. "i never expected evil vision to come about," and I thought that was awesome. One theory raised is that Ultron could be inside, which I called interesting.

Another suggestion is that Wanda birthed a new Vision, meaning there would be two, though I did not think so. Would she have created a new Mind Stone too? That would be incredible, but I guess she is that powerful.

Too much left for one final episode

Only one episode remained, and I hoped it would run more than an hour. I had heard there would be a big battle between Agatha and Wanda. Still, "i don't have total faith in its ability to solve all the answers in the one more episode," though I hoped they would prove me wrong. How could they not explain Evan Peters, who looks like the X-Men version of Pietro? Is Mephisto showing up? I also thought it would be really bad if Doctor Strange came in to tell everyone to stop fighting.

There was no bonus episode planned, since Kevin Feige said nine episodes and had no reason to lie. A lot of the spoilers circulating then were wrong, and I wished Disney would do something about them. Maybe on a second viewing, knowing the answers were not coming, I could appreciate the episode more for what it was.

Do you think the finale could realistically tie up Pietro, Vision and Agatha in a single episode?
