Marvel's Live Action Shows Pause After Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, TheWrap Reports

Marvel Studios' plans from now until 2028 look set, and the surprise projects some fans were hoping for don't seem to be happening. According to TheWrap, Marvel Television's live action Disney Plus shows will pause after Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 and stay on hold until after Avengers: Secret Wars. I actually think that's good news in the grand scheme of things.

There are also new promos for Avengers: Doomsday to go over, including one with an interesting detail about Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch, plus a rune that I think was built with Thor in mind.

TheWrap says Zodiac is the next Marvel show after Daredevil: Born Again Season 3

TheWrap reports that after Born Again Season 3, the next show will be Zodiac, Marvel's newly announced TV series. It's coming in 2028 and is set to kick off Marvel Television's next era. What that tells us is that there will be nothing between Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 and Zodiac.

There are also no movies between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Some people have been guessing, hoping and theorizing that other projects would land in that window. Some production companies were listed under Marvel, and some fans took that as a sign of a surprise movie between the two Avengers films. We did get movies between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, but that does not seem to be the case this time.

Marvel isn't even doing shows in that gap. Everything is shutting down except Doomsday and Secret Wars, with Born Again Season 3 the only exception, and that season has already been filmed. From what I understand, it's essentially done.

Why I think a gap before Avengers: Secret Wars is a good move

I know some people would prefer projects in between so we don't have a year long gap, especially with a lot of the rumors about Secret Wars possibly being moved back a little. Some fans are asking what happens if there's a year and a half between Doomsday and Secret Wars with nothing in between. That does look like the situation: the only thing in between will be Born Again Season 3.

But I would rather Marvel take all that time and effort and put it into making Secret Wars better than Doomsday than be spread too thin across other projects. That's why Marvel's quality dropped in the first place. Starting with Phase 4, Kevin Feige was spread way too thin with Disney Plus, all the movies and everything else. The quality went down, and Marvel has already admitted to this.

Marvel had already said there are no movies between Doomsday and Secret Wars, and now we know there are no secret projects at all. So I think this is a great move.

The Latverian witches promo now shows a red witch following Doctor Doom

The new Avengers: Doomsday promos show the Avengers, the X-Men and all of the Fantastic Four, and I think they're pretty cool. The one that stands out features Doctor Doom's right hand man and the Latverian witches. Pretty much everyone believes that right hand man is Doctor Strange, and that makes the most sense. In the comics, that character is Doctor Doom's right hand man in Latveria, and in this case it looks like it will be Strange.

Marvel has released other posters highlighting the witches, and originally there wasn't a red witch. We had only seen purple, green and yellow ones. Marvel Studios has seemingly changed that, and we now have a reddish witch following Doom. Was the yellow one deliberate from the start, to throw us off? I'm not sure. They could have done it, because I think the Scarlet Witch would be easy to guess. But at this point Marvel has teased the Scarlet Witch so much that I don't think it's that big of a secret.

Who the purple and green witches might be: Clea and Sylvie

The purple witch is believed to be Clea, who we last saw with Doctor Strange in the post credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Both of them apparently went to Doctor Doom.

The green one is believed to be Sylvie. Some people think it could be Death, but I have seen some insiders state it's not Death. I also don't think Death would be interested in what Doom is about to do. Maybe. Beyond trillions of people would die when the entire multiverse gets destroyed. She might be against that, or she might be for it, and she could be one of the witches, or not. It seems like that would be quite a bit of work for Death, though.

I do believe it's probably Sylvie. We've heard many reports about that, and I think Sylvie is going to be in this movie. The actress who plays her has teased it a lot.

The rune in the witches promo may be designed for Thor

In the background of the promo there is a rune, and it looks like lightning is creating it. This rune has also been found on the back of Doctor Doom's hands. It shows up specifically when Thor comes to strike him with Stormbreaker, and the magical rune is how Doom is able to block the blow with two fingers.

Because lightning seems to be forming it, I think this rune, or at least part of it, might have been designed specifically for Thor, the god of thunder. We know Doom is assessing everything. We've seen the leaked photos and leaked art of him playing chess, with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four as the pieces. He is playing everybody and is 20 steps ahead of everybody. So I think he has totally put some magic into a specific rune to combat Thor.

I do think there is something to this rune that is tied to Thor. I think it's related to many things, but a specific part of it is meant for him.

Why Thor is the hero Doctor Doom should fear most

If you look at the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, who are you most worried about as Doom? It's Thor. There are plenty of jokes right now about Thor's face in the new Avengers: Doomsday material, where he looks like he can't believe this is the new team, because not many of them have superpowers.

I would say Captain Marvel too, but it doesn't seem like she's on Earth. It sounds like she will be in this movie or Secret Wars in some way, and she'll return eventually. But for these battles, I think it's mostly going to be Thor. The only other person you'd worry about for brute force would be the Hulk, and Doom has already collected the Hulk, so that part is handled.

Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch would be concerns, but if Doom has them on his side, it doesn't matter. The X-Men would be the other biggest concern. But if he's pitting the Avengers and the Fantastic Four against the X-Men, they're doing his work for him. That's why Doom is so smart. They're going to hurt each other, and then he's going to raise the Sentinels. We've seen that already, and it looks epic.

The character promos: more than one Doctor Doom?

The other new promos aren't exactly anything new, but they give a cool look at the heroes' faces. Doctor Doom has two different ones. They look a little different but appear to use the same mask, and many people are talking about the different looks and wondering if there could be more than one Doom.

Could Marvel show him killing variants of himself? Yes, that is a Doom thing to do, and he does it in the comics. But I still think Robert Downey Jr. is Doctor Doom and there's only one Doom.

Red Guardian and Gambit are the only ones smiling

The lineup includes Yelena and Red Guardian, and I love that Red Guardian is smiling, because it seems like such a Red Guardian thing. Nobody else is smiling except Gambit. I love that everybody is so serious while those two smile, and I think that's because they're the comedic relief. Ant-Man would be part of that too, but he has his mask on, and Gambit fits based on what we saw in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Red Guardian's pose has him smiling because he's so excited to be around all those heroes, to be an Avenger and to be the Red Guardian again. We know from Thunderbolts that's what he loves.

Then there's Thor, Reed Richards, Sue Storm and Professor Xavier, and it's going to be great to see Patrick Stewart in Doomsday. There's also Beast and Channing Tatum's Gambit. Falcon's promo is funny, because many people think he looks like Buzz Lightyear, and I can see some resemblance. We also get Shang-Chi, M'Baku, the second Doom, Sam Wilson's Captain America, Bucky, and John Walker's U.S. Agent, who is wearing pretty much what he wore at the end of Thunderbolts.

Magneto and Cyclops could also worry Doctor Doom

The rest of the lineup is Johnny Storm, the Thing, Cyclops, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Ant-Man and Black Panther, the main characters for Avengers: Doomsday.

Magneto would be another person Doom would probably be concerned about. As far as who could take him on power wise, I think it would probably be Magneto, and Doom might be concerned with Cyclops' optic blast as well. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

These promos look pretty cool, and the Avengers: Doomsday promotion is starting to pick up. We should be getting a new trailer and new material pretty soon.
